Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio

If you don't know what Polio is.... you'll find out.  Peg Kehret was an ordinary girl at school one day. A minute later she just collapsed. She went to the doctor's office  and they took a test. Her Mom, Dad, and Peg thought she just had the Flu. It turned out to be more serious then the Flu. It was Polio. Polio was a disease that paralyzed you. When she got Sheltering Arms they told her she had 2 types of a Polio.  The 2 types of Polio was Spinal wich paralyzed you and Respiratory wich it was hard for you to breath. So she was transferred to Universty of Minessota Hospital. When she arrived there she was put in isolation. The doctor told her there was another type of Polio. The 3rd one was called Bulbar. Bulbar makes it hard for you swallow and talk. Her parents came to visit her one day and she hadn't eaten for a week. They asked her what she wanted to eat. Peg responded, "A chocolate milkshake." The nurses warned her parent not get her one, but they did get Peg a chocolate milkshake. When Peg's parents arrived took out a chocolate milkshake. Peg took a sip and another then it turned out she drank the entire  milkshake. She went to sleep and when she woke up her fever was down. Peg mumbled to her self, "That chocolate milkshake may have saved my life." Did the chocolate milkshake really save her life? Read Small Steps and you'll find out.
