More Arrays

We learned that you can make multiplying easier by breaking up the array into two smaller arrays. Instead of 12 x 4 you can do 10x4 and 2x 4. This is called the Distributive Property. 

 

 

Levers

We built levers today and at the end we noticed it's like a little seesaw on a playground. Yo use levers in the real world to list stuff or to play on. Yesterday we built an inclined plane it's like a ramp you drive motorcycles for stuff onto it. The lever has a fulcrum it sits on. The closer the fulcrum is to what you are lifting the less force you need. By Matthew 

 

 

 

 

Inclined Planes

Ms. Stemmons came in today to help us build inclined Planes with Vex Kits. Examples of inclined Planes are escalators, slides, and wheel chair ramps. Inclined Planes make it easier to lift heavy things. 

 

 

 

 

Raptor Presentation

The Conservation Department taught us about raptors today.  They even brought real falcons!  The kids had a blast and learned a lot.

cursive

We are working on cursive in a thing called a handwriting book. There are a lot of pages up to 128 and we are on page 31 and 32. we are working on k l t h and eventually we will know all of cursive. The handwriting book has a lot of helpful things like little practice.Some of the practice is pictures to encourage people. By Matthew

 

Terror at the zoo

We are reading Terror at the Zoo by Peg Kehret. Terror at the zoo is about two kids named Ellen and Corey. They got a gift certificate from their grandparents for their birthday and it said that they could go camping at the zoo. The grandparents to go with them but their grandma broke her leg so they're mom and dad had to go with them but then their flight was delayed so they are stuck at the zoo with someone named Tony.
