Secrets of Droon Picture Vote

We did a vote on who's picture would go on the wall. The picture has to be based on the book we read for read aloud. How we voted is Mrs.Mathes picked out five pictures and we narrowed it down by voting two by two until we only had one left. Then that picture will go on the wall. Me era'is picture won. We read The Secrets of Droon #1 it is really good.  I recommend for you to read it. It is about three kids that discover a world under Eric's house. When they go yo he world they meet four people.  Their names are princess Keeah, Gallen, Lord Sparr, and a spider troll named Max.  Read the book to find out if they can defeat evil Lord Sparr.--Katrina

Pop Rock Writing

We  did 5 senses about pop rocks on Wednesday. These are some words we used to describe eating Pop Rocks:  sweet, popping, colorful, rattling, sticky and sizzle. We also did similes about Pop Rocks. We said they exploded in our mouths like a bomb, storm, hail, machine gun, dynamite and bacon sizzling. I hope you had fun learning about Pop Rocks! -- Anna & Krista

Bird Beak Time

On  September 24th  we learned how certain bird beaks help the bird to survive and get food. We used tools to get food like one of the things we tried to get rice from clay. The clay was shaped like a log and the rice were pretend insects. We used tweezers, spoons, staple removers to get the rice. We discovered the tweezers worked the best.  We did 6 more kinds of activities.  These pictures show some other tools we used as bird beaks. ---by Harper

Camouflage

Yesterday we finished our camouflage animals. Camouflage is an adaptation some animals have to hide from predators or to help them catch food. We had options of a lizard, snake,or butterfly to try to camouflage. We also got to pick our own backround. After that, we had to try to color and match the same exact colors to try to camouflage them. It was kind of hard, because not all of the colors matched the backround. Some of the pictures are not that camouflaged, but some you can't even see the animal such as that flower one and the polka dotted one. It took a lot of work!!!!!

Habitats

We are learning about habitats.Ms.Mathes is teaching us how animals survive.
These are 4 things a animal needs.Food,Air,Water and Shelter.

This book taught us how all the animals bond in the same habitat.Like when
beavers build dams.  Sometimes floods damage their dams, but It builds a perfect home for Turtles and other water animals.  Habitats make good homes for animals.

Rounding

Step 1 you look at the hundreds place and decide what two 100s your number is in between.

Step 2: you look at tens place.  If it's 5 or more let it soar 4 or less let it rest. Rounding is really easy if you follow these steps.

Reminders

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weekend!  Here are a few reminders about things happening in our classroom.

1. Our Cougar Fun Fest Basket theme is Halloween.  You can send in anything related to                     Halloween by Monday, September 22.

2. Coupon book orders are due next week.  We've  already had several turned in.  We are hoping to       get 25 orders :)

3. We started our Family Communication Journals this week.  Your child wrote you a letter about       their week in a composition book.  Your "homework" is to read their letter and respond back               in their notebook.  Look forward to seeing them come home most Fridays!
