New jobs

Today we figured out what we got for a job. Some of us have hard jobs and will need to learn how to do it. But it is 3rd grade and a lot of us don't have hard jobs. A lot of the jobs are really fun, but some of them can get boring.  The jobs we could get are teachers assistants, caboose, substitute, line leader, lunch helpers, librarians, pet Care takers, homework helpers, supply sergeant, door holder, tech specialist, public relations, copy experts, and Manager!

Classroom experts

In class we are going to go to another class (Ms. Upton) to learn about apps. So we have written 4 apps down that we want to learn more about and Ms. Mathes is going to choose one of those four and each app will have 3 people learning about that app. So when someone needs help on an app we will go to one of the three experts on that app. By Hank and Logan

Ms Sauerburger

Ms Sauerburger is our preservice teacher for the next few months.  She only comes in two mornings and learns about how the classroom works and she learns how to be a teacher. She is a phase 1 sophomore at Mizzou. We love her!!

The school of Integrity

Integrity is doing what's right even when no one is watching.  Also saying the truth like, "I did not do my homework."  And it  is including everyone and don't be a bully. A bully can change their attitude. By: Rachel and Dorothy

Kindergarten buddies

We made a weaving card with are kindergarten buddies for Valentines Day! First we had to help our kindergarten buddies before we did our card some of the people in our class didn't even do one. The craft was really fun and the kindergarten buddies looked like they were having fun. I really liked that we got to use plastic needles. But we had a fun time and did a great craft.

We have been learning about volume. We made these cool box cities. The name of mine is New Orlands. We made the box cities out of paper, but we had to fold and tape them. Taylor's box city was called Funland. Do you have the question of what is volume? Well if so then we are here to tell you more about it.  Volume is in cubic units. Cubic units are basically boxes or 3D squares/cube. Then you multiply the 2 bottom sides and then times that to the layers. Then you have your answer.

Science race!

Last week we had a science race with marbles. We used inclined plains to do the race. We used all shapes and sizes to do the race with the inclined plains marbles. We also did a challenge where we had to see whose marble went the farthest Luke S.,Carter, and Makenna's team won and Asher's team got second. The marble went the farther when we made the inclined plains higher.

In school we can write school mail in our free time. First we get the letter sheet and the school directory. The school directory is so you know everyone's name and class code in the school even teachers. Here's a picture of the letter sheet. Before we write we have to write the name and class code of the person we are writing to.Then we wright to the person we we want to wright to. Then we sign our name and put the letter in the mailbox outside of our classroom. 4th grade mail club students pick up and deliver mail on Wednesdays. By: Hank and Logan

Number the stars

In NUMBER THE STARS so far we have been getting to know more about Ellen's family. And we figured out that there is no Great Aunt Birte, but they still had a funeral. In the casket was a bunch of clothes for the Jewish people because they were going to sneak out with Peter. Peter gave the baby medicen to keep the baby from crying because they were sneaking out. We predict that Annmerarie might miss Ellen when she goes to sneak out.

Number the stars

In Number the Stars  Annmarie and her mom are hiding Ellen because she is Jewish. Peter is hiding Ellen's parents. Right now Annmarie and her mom are at their uncle's house. They think it's more safe for Ellen because there are a lot of Nazi's in Cooenhagen. The next chapter title is called "There Will Be A Death". We predict that the death will be uncle Henrik because he is hiding Ellen. We are really enjoying the book.

Magnets

In science we have been learning about magnets. The ends of the magnet.  There are poles. There is a north pole and a South Pole. If you put the same poles together, south and south and north and north they repel that means that they push apart. But if you put North and South they stick together. For a magnet to work you do not have to have them together.

Number the Stars

We have been building up our knowledge about WWII because our read aloud book takes place in WWII. It is called NUMBER THE STARS. The Nazi soldiers are invading Denemark . The main character is Annemarie and her friend Ellen who is Jewish. The author is Lois Lowry.

Family letters

Every Friday we write family letters. We have to do three sentences in each paragraph. Family letters are really fun. In the letter we have to write about what we have been doing in class over the week.
