Area

In the classroom we have been learning about area. Area is a measurement of the inside of a shape. You can cover a shape with squares or the quicker way is to measure 2 edges then multiply them like an array.   Like if you had 6 times 12 = 72. So your answer is 72 square inches or centimeters. If you needed to measure to get carpeting you would need area.  By Emma & Makenna

Gravity

Gravity is amazing because it makes us stay on earth.Gravity pulls on things the same. Two objects land at the same time if you let go at the same time but somethings have air resistance so it doesn't fall at the same . Some examples of this is I can drop an elephant and a mouse they would land at the same time. Also if I dropped a paper and a crumpled paper the crumpled paper would land first because the flat paper would have air resistance. Without gravity we would not survive because everything would drift off. By Logan and Hank

Mill Creek Pledge

Our Mill Creek pledge is important because it tells us to be ... resourceful, respectful, and responsible. The three R's stand for them. We say the pledge every Monday. Rachel

We were on a green screen and thre was a green sheet that erased our body. Another station we did was we go to talk on the anchor desk. An anchor is the main part of the news cast. We are doing something new in math. It is perimeter! What you do is you measure the outside of shapes. Perimeter is counting or measuring the outside of the shape and figuring out the length and adding it together. Luke H. and Jonas.

Similes

A few days before we learned about similes. If you don't know what that is then I will tell you. Similes are describing what something tastes, smells, or feels like using the words "like" or "as".  Pop rocks are like ... jewels, fireworks, and like popcorn.

Friction

In science we learned about friction. It is a rubbing force that slows stuff down. We did a test to see what surface had the most and the one with the least. Waxed paper had the least amount of friction and sandpaper had the most. By Carter and Jonas

Writing

In writing we are doing feature articles. A bunch of people have fun and exciting topics. We have not started writing because right now we are reading books and learning new facts about our topics. A few people are doing presidents. We are going to go on to writing soon but for now we're hitting the books!

Epic

Miss.mathes showed us a reading app and it is called Epic.It has books on it that you can read. You have a avatar that you can customize.Epic is awesome! Asher and Luke

Subtraction

In math we are learning subtraction. First we learned to subtract two digits numbers and then we learned how to subtract three and ones with 0's and then she gave us a trick on subtracting 0's. The trick is minus the number that you are subtracting like if you had 700 you would make it a 699 and if you had 156 then you would make it a 155 and you still get the same answer without all of the borrowing!!!!

Rounding off big time

Rounding off big time is a game we played but to play it you have to get a deck of cards and the game board. You draw three cards and make them into a number and round it to the nearest hundred and write it by that number. You write the number in each space you win, but you can only put one number in a space. By: Hank and Logan

Force

This semester we learned about force. Force is about pushing and pulling. We did a fun game about pushing and pulling it goes like this first we all have a thing then we think what force its using. Then we put it in the right hoop we think it's in. Rachel

Force

So far in science we have been learning about force. Force is a push or a pull. Friction is making something go slower like you are trying to sled and there are a bunch of rocks in your way. The rocks would be causing friction. We've also been learning about motion. Here are some things that move rain, people, dogs and lots more that's a little about science! By:Makenna

Forces in science

We started a new unit in class it's forces. The first thing we did types of motions. like drawing a line and say something that goes in a straight line. Like vibrating too or other things that move in a motion. And the thing is that we use forces every day! Asher and Henry

NO TALKING

In reading we have started the book called No TalkingIt is about the 5th grade having a no talking challenge. They have a battle between the girls and the boys. So far in the book the girls have 30 points and the boys have 35. So the girls are winning!!!

The Science Experiment

Yesterday we did a science experiment in the hallway. We used a ruler, tape measure, rubber band, meter, and a force. A force is a push or pull. We put the ruler on 2 and it went 19cm and 4 went 76cm and 6 went 393cm. Our class really liked the experiment.

Family letters

Every Friday our class writes to our families.
There is three paragraphs and six sentence each.
In family letters we write about stuff we do in school.
Then we put a list of things on the smart board and we pick.
We give in to our mom or dad depending on who we write too.
The reason we give it to our parents because they write back to us.
They find out about our week and we get practice writing.

No Talking

So far in No Talking Dave and Lynsy don't get along very well. But they were agreeing to one thing the no talking game.  This is how it works. You can only say 3 words or less to a teacher and if your're not talking to teacher then the other team gets 4 points. This is girls against boys. So far girls are wining!!! Dave is on the left Lynsy is on the right. By Makenna Gortmaker
