Handwriting

We have practiceing handwriting. Handwriting is where you practice writing your letters in the neatest way possible. It is not hard. For example: it shows the letter T you have to write the letter t over and over.  Say it shows the word dog you have to write the word dog two times. Say it shows the letter H you have to write the letter H over and over. We are going to do cursive soon.  I don't think that cursive will be hard because Anna and Liza (that is me) we have been practicing some letters in cursive at home. Handwriting is so fun. I love handwriting but some times it is not fun to me and Anna.

Counting by fives and tens

Dear readers,

Our class is working together  on  connecting sets of 5 or 10 cubes into 50 cube lines. Then we compare to look for things that are the same or different. This is going to help us understand multiplication.

The Lemonade war

In the Lemonade war there are two kids named Evan and Jessie.Evan is mad at Jessie because she is skipping 3rd grade and going to Evan's class in fourth grade.  Evan started a lemonade stand with Scott, his kind of friend. They are kind of friends because Scott ran over Evan's bicycle helmet on purpose. The two boys get a lot of customers but then they start to lose customers because Jessie and Megan stole all of the customers by starting a lemonade stand further than Evan and Scott.
We hope you hade fun learning about The Lemonade War!

Kindergarten Buddies

We have kindergarten buddies. We went to Mrs.  Dixon's room to make a Halloween craft that was Frankenstein.  We read off a piece of paper that told us what to do on our Frankenstein.  The piece of paper told us what to do.  For example, if you are a girl you have a purple head and neck and if you are a boy you have a green head and neck. And if you like chocolate candy better than fruity candy you have zig zag hair and if you don't you have wavy hair. And for the stitches,if you are in 3rd grade you have 3 stitches and if you are the kindergartener you have 2 stitches. For the bolts, if you have a pet you have the bolts on the side of your head.  If you don't have a pet the bolts are on your neck. For the eyes if you ride the bus a lot then you do not have cross eyes, but if you do anything else you have cross eyes.  For the smile it says if you like Halloween then you do a small smile and if you LOVE Halloween then you have a deep smile."I mean like who doesn't like Halloween!!!!" So I hope you like Halloween and have a great one.  :0)

Writing

In writing we have been reading the book Knuckleheads!!! This book should inspire you to have different writing ideas. Some ideas this book might have gave you is....
- A really gross time
- A fun vacation
- Sick/ A time you broke something

Begginings
A beginnings are something that NEEDS TO grab your readers attention. If it doesn't grab your readers attention it could make nobody want to read your book. Some ideas to start off your beggining is...
- A question
- A mystery (Make sure not to leave it a mystery to long)
- A sound
There are many more , but these were some examples.

Vivid Verbs
Instead of just using plain old boring vebs like....
- Ran
You use...  We Zipped to the finish line. The vivid verbs help make you story more insteresting.

Ending
The end needs to remind your reader about what you were reading about.  Let's say you were writing about a time your cat threw up. You might want to say...

-I still can't believe it made all of my brothers throw up with the cat.

Personal narritives

Katie and Colin
This week we have been learning about personal narritives. It's where you write about yourself, such as ...your Birthday, pet, vacation, first time doing  something,family/friends,when you got sick/hospital,when you went somewhere, traditions, holidays, special events, and much more!!! If you write about one of those, you always have to remember, make it interesting, and make it about yourself instead of other people that are in the story. If you don't make it interesting and you want to be a writer when you grow up,your editor won't except it and you'll probably have to do it all over again! Actually no matter what, you'll probably have to write it all over again, because authors always have to revise! Writing personal narritives, takes lots and lots of work! You also really have to pay attention!!!!!!!!! I hope you guys like to write! It's so fun and maybe someday,I hope you guys want to be a writer!!!!!!!!!! By Annie and Colin

The Secrets of Robbers Cave

David and Jeff are trying to find the mystery of Lost Island. Their cousin Claire has spotted them and now she and Yum-Yum have to tag along. They built a fort and they dug up a box and in the box was spurs and there was a piece of paper that said,"Wells Fargo Driver Killed on Main Street $12,000 missing Silver Spur Bandit Still on the Loose hand shoot off in bloody gun battle reward dead or alive." One day when Claire was gone they found out that the McCoy boys were there because, there was a candy bar wrapper. David was chasing it and found a boulder like thing. Then they discovered it was the cave. They went little far back in the cave in then heard a noise so they started running to the front of the cave. When they got to the front of the cave somebody had trapped them. Will Jeff and David ever get out of the cave? Read it,and you'll find out!!!!! By Ella and Katie

Show don't tell

We played a game called Show, Dont Tell   This is how you play. You get called up to pick a card that would say a feeling. It is just like the game called Charades.  Guess what feeling we are doing?!?!

We played he game to help us write with shows in our own stories. Shows make writing more interesting because the reader can picture what is happening.

Ecosystems

The ecosystems are doing ok, but the water is green and they are smelly. The far one to the right has the greenest water.  Most of the snails are on the walls of the bottle, but some are dead. Some worms are dead too. Our grass has grown tall!  Our grass is about 1 1/2 inches.

TJ Wheeler assembly

On Tuesday,we had an assembly. A guy named"TJ Wheeler" came to our school to play some Blues. If  you went to the Roots and Blues festival you would have seen him there. There was a song called"Shakin With No Bacon!" There was also songs from Disney movies to songs kids wrote!  He's been to our school before, but every year..... it gets better and better!!!!!!!!!
