Multiplication facts
In class we are leaning 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 multiplication facts because we are going to do a 100 multiplication problem test in 10 minutes after Thanksgiving. We are trying to get down to 5:00 by the end of the year. Now we're practicing the facts with games and worksheets to get faster at our facts.
Cursive
Our class is starting cursive in our Handwriting notebook we did L , H, K, and T in cursive. We trace a gray line in our Handwriting book to practice first. Then we try on our own. We learned uphill strokes, overhill strokes, and side strokes. We saw the how to do a,o,d,g,f,p. we also did 11 lines of cursive the letters were L,H,K, and T. I believe we spelled words like Colin,Ice and more and it's fun to see how we can spell words.
Front Row App
I showed the kids an app to
practice math today. It is called Front
Row. It allows kids to practice all
areas of math (not just multiplication).
It also allows you to see their progress. I sent home a sheet with your child today
that has more information about how you and your child can log on. You can also access this program online.
This is app is good practice because it shows the kids how to do
concepts that they struggle with. It
also has manipulatives, a pencil they can write with, and a speaker to read
hard words. It’s format is also similar to
what the new state standardized test will look like in May.
Once they take the placement test
they should choose “adaptive practice”. This allows the program
to give the students the practice they need.
Assigned practice lets the student choose the area to practice.

with their first and last name and the code is k v d a q g . The online address is student.frontrowed.com. You only need the parent code (on the paper
being sent home today) in order to see your child’s progress. I will put your copy in the Friday folder next week if your child isn't here today.

Multiplication Books
Our class made multiplication books. We were learning all our multiples from 2 through 12. Ms.Mathes had told us to color in hundreds charts each day from 2 through 12. Every day we did a different multiple. But finally, yesterday we finished. Ms.Mathes told us to arrange them from 2 through 12. Then we brought them over to her so she could staple them for us. And if we had extra time, we could decorate our multiplication books. It was fun. We all loved it. By Meera

Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio
If you don't know what Polio is.... you'll find out. Peg Kehret was an ordinary girl at school one day. A minute later she just collapsed. She went to the doctor's office and they took a test. Her Mom, Dad, and Peg thought she just had the Flu. It turned out to be more serious then the Flu. It was Polio. Polio was a disease that paralyzed you. When she got Sheltering Arms they told her she had 2 types of a Polio. The 2 types of Polio was Spinal wich paralyzed you and Respiratory wich it was hard for you to breath. So she was transferred to Universty of Minessota Hospital. When she arrived there she was put in isolation. The doctor told her there was another type of Polio. The 3rd one was called Bulbar. Bulbar makes it hard for you swallow and talk. Her parents came to visit her one day and she hadn't eaten for a week. They asked her what she wanted to eat. Peg responded, "A chocolate milkshake." The nurses warned her parent not get her one, but they did get Peg a chocolate milkshake. When Peg's parents arrived took out a chocolate milkshake. Peg took a sip and another then it turned out she drank the entire milkshake. She went to sleep and when she woke up her fever was down. Peg mumbled to her self, "That chocolate milkshake may have saved my life." Did the chocolate milkshake really save her life? Read Small Steps and you'll find out.

Flying Buffy
Look! Buffy can fly! WOW! I know Buffy is a bunny, but is he superman. He is the incredible Buffy! I wonder if Super Buffy saves people from danger? I wonder if he can fly over the St. Louis Arch?

Skippy
Can you count by 4s😐? In the game Skippy it might come in handy. Skippy is where there are people in a straight line. The people in the straight line are counting by whatever number - like 4. If you get out you have to sit down. Here are the ways you can get out. If you are counting by 4s and you say 10 instead of 12 you have to sit down which means your out. The other way is if the person in front of you says 48 you say Skippy then the person behind you is OUT. The last person standing will be the WINNER!!! 😀
